  • Japanese: フレイムショット
  • English: Flame Shot
Flame Shot is a Limit Break for Irvine Kinneas in Final Fantasy VIII. This ability utilizes Fire Ammo to inflict Fire-elemental physical damage on all enemies, with the damage being based on Irvine's Strength stat. When Flame Shot is activated, the player has a limited time to fire at targets using a button and has the option to cancel. The firing time is determined by Irvine's Crisis Level, a hidden game calculation. The higher the Crisis Level (e.g., Irvine has low HP, downed allies, or status ailments), the longer the firing time. The damage dealt by Flame Shot is influenced not only by Irvine's Strength, but also by the target's Vitality and Fire resistance. Additionally, Flame Shot can critical hit, dealing double damage. While the firing speed of Flame Shot is moderate, it is Irvine's most powerful and only Fire-elemental attack, making it effective against multiple enemies and exploiting their Fire weaknesses. Players can obtain the required Fire Ammo for Flame Shot by refining items or purchasing them from shops. Furthermore, Flame Shot never misses its target and is not affected by elemental attack junctions.
