Brothers

The Brothers in Final Fantasy VIII are a pair of minotaurs named Minotaur and Sacred, who appear as an optional Guardian Force. They reside in the Tomb of the Unknown King, and players must defeat them to obtain their power. As a Guardian Force, the Brothers are primarily focused on defensive capabilities. They learn abilities such as HP-J, Spr-J, and Str-J, as well as HP-boosting support abilities. They are also the only Guardian Force to learn the Cover ability, which allows one character to take hits in place of adjacent teammates. They also learn the Defend ability, which nullifies physical damage until the user chooses another command. Their unique ability is HP Bonus, which permanently boosts HP upon leveling up. In battle, the Brothers' summon attack is "Brotherly Love," an earth-elemental attack. The Brothers also appear as cards in the Triple Triad mini-game, which can be converted into useful items.
