Carbuncle

Carbuncle is a support Guardian Force (GF) in Final Fantasy VIII, known for the red gem on its forehead. Carbuncle's main function is to provide beneficial effects to the party, with its signature summon ability, 'Ruby Light,' granting the Reflect status to all party members, causing enemy spells to bounce back to the caster. As the first supportive GF obtained in the game, it plays a crucial role in battle as a support. Carbuncle can learn HP, Vitality, and Magic junctions, as well as status attack and defense junctions. It learns support abilities that boost HP and Vitality, and the Ability x3 skill that allows the user to equip three support abilities at once. Carbuncle is also the first GF to learn Counter and the only GF to learn Auto-Reflect, which bestows a permanent Reflect status. Additionally, Carbuncle's unique ability, Recov Med-RF, allows the player to refine items into recovery items. In Final Fantasy VIII, Carbuncle is initially obtained by drawing from the Iguions during the Deling City parade, and can later be drawn from Krysta in the final dungeon if missed. Carbuncle has made many appearances in the Final Fantasy series, usually as a support summon, providing beneficial status effects like Reflect.
