Tonberry

In Final Fantasy VIII, Tonberry is both an enemy and a summonable Guardian Force. As an enemy, it first appears in the Centra Ruins and is known for its unique appearance and powerful attacks. It is typically depicted as a small, lizard-like creature wearing a cloak, carrying a lantern and a chef's knife. Despite its cute appearance, the Tonberry's attack "Everyone's Grudge" deals damage based on the number of enemies the attacker has defeated, while its "Chef's Knife" is an instant-kill attack. To obtain Tonberry as a Guardian Force, players need to defeat a sufficient number of Tonberries in the Centra Ruins, then fight and defeat the Tonberry King. As a Guardian Force, Tonberry does not learn junction abilities but can learn evasion and luck boosting support abilities and manipulate enemy levels. Its summon attack "Chef's Knife" deals non-elemental damage to a random enemy. Tonberry also appears in various forms in other Final Fantasy titles, maintaining its signature appearance and danger, making it a beloved character among players.
