Moomba

Moomba (ムンバ) is a unique creature in Final Fantasy VIII, characterized by its cute, red-furred appearance. In the game, Moombas are not humans but a possible final form of evolution for the Shumi race. Often used as slaves or laborers by humans, and thus mistreated, Moombas are held as an ideal within Shumi Village. Game lore suggests that Shumis who fail to evolve into Elders often turn into Moombas, and their red fur is said to come from the "passionate ingenuity of their hearts." Although Moombas cannot speak human languages, they can communicate through body language and recognize people by licking their blood. In battle, players can summon Moomba using the "Friendship" item. Moomba's summon attack, "Moomba Moomba," can reduce an enemy's HP to 1 or do 9999 damage if the target's HP is above that threshold. Beyond Final Fantasy VIII, Moomba also appears as Lulu's doll weapon in Final Fantasy X and as an unlockable character in Chocobo Racing.
