Phoenix

In Final Fantasy VIII, Phoenix (Japanese: フェニックス) is not a traditional summon but a special pseudo-Guardian Force. It is a colossal flaming bird that can be summoned by using the Phoenix Pinion item. Phoenix's attack, "Rebirth Flame," deals fire-elemental damage to enemies and revives all fallen party members with 12.5% of their maximum HP. After being summoned once, Phoenix has a 25.4% chance to randomly appear when all party members are knocked out or petrified, saving the player from a Game Over. However, Phoenix cannot remove petrification. In the Triple Triad card game, Phoenix is a powerful fire-elemental Level 9 card obtained from the Presidential Aide in Esthar after losing the Doomtrain card to the Queen of Cards. The Phoenix card can also be refined into 3 Phoenix Spirits using Quezacotl's Card Mod, which can be used to learn the Revive command.
