Odin is a recurring summon in the Final Fantasy series, making his first appearance in Final Fantasy III. In Final Fantasy VIII, Odin appears as a non-controllable Guardian Force who randomly appears at the start of battles, instantly defeating enemies with his signature move, Zantetsuken. Odin is usually depicted as a warrior riding a six-legged horse, wearing black armor, a horned helmet, and wielding a long sword. His appearance is often heralded by thunder. In Final Fantasy VIII, players can obtain Odin by completing a timed challenge within the Centra Ruins. Odin serves as a random powerful support in battles, but within the story, he is defeated by the antagonist Seifer with a 'Zantetsuken Reverse' and is later replaced by Gilgamesh. Nonetheless, Odin remains a beloved character in the Final Fantasy series, with appearances or mentions in many games.
