Dark Messenger

In Final Fantasy VIII, "Dark Messenger" (闇よりの使者, Yamiyori no Shisha) is the signature attack of the Guardian Force Diabolos. It is a gravity-based, non-elemental attack that deals damage to all enemies based on a percentage of Diabolos's level, up to a maximum of 9999 HP. Diabolos is an optional Guardian Force obtained by battling and defeating him after using the "Magical Lamp" item. While the attack is less effective at lower levels due to Diabolos's low level, it becomes a powerful tool when Diabolos is at a higher level, capable of one-shotting enemies with less than 9999 HP. This ability has appeared throughout the Final Fantasy series, with varying effects and elements, but is generally a gravity or dark elemental attack. In Final Fantasy VIII, Diabolos also provides useful abilities, such as stealing items, reducing encounter rates and magic refining.
