1,000 Needles

In the Final Fantasy series, "1000 Needles" (針千本, Harisenbon) is an iconic ability, particularly associated with the Cactuar monster. This ability usually inflicts a fixed damage of 1000 points, regardless of the target's defense stats. In Final Fantasy VIII, the Cactuar appears as a summonable Guardian Force (G.F.), and its summon attack, "1,000 Needles," deals non-elemental fixed damage to all enemies, with the damage scaling with the Cactuar's level. Additionally, the Cactuar itself possesses many useful abilities, such as boosting evasion and luck. While the damage of "1000 Needles" is fixed, it remains a reliable damage output method in Final Fantasy VIII, especially against high-defense enemies. In other Final Fantasy titles, this skill has different variations, such as the more powerful 10,000 Needles or the weaker 100 Needles. The visual effects also vary, typically showing numerous "1" digits to represent the launched needles.
