MoombaMoomba

Moombas (ムンバ) are creatures in Final Fantasy VIII, possibly the final stage in the life cycle of a Shumi. They are often used as slaves or laborers and are mistreated by their human masters. However, in Shumi Village, Shumi regard Moombas as an ideal form. According to the village sculptor, those who fail to evolve into Elders often turn into Moombas, and their red fur is attributed to their “passionate ingenuity.” Moombas are covered in red fur and stand about a meter tall. They typically walk on all fours but can stand on their hind legs when stationary. Their paws are oversized with sharp claws, which, along with their teeth, can be used for defense. While Moombas cannot speak human language, they can learn individual words. In battle, a Moomba can be summoned using the Friendship item. The Moomba's special attack, “MoombaMoomba,” reduces a single target's HP to 1 or deals 9999 damage if the target's HP is above that. Moombas also appear in other Final Fantasy games, such as in Final Fantasy X as Lulu's weapon dolls and as a secret unlockable character, Mumba, in Chocobo Racing.
