Zantetsuken

Zantetsuken is a recurring weapon and ability in the Final Fantasy series, particularly known for its powerful cutting ability. In Final Fantasy VIII, Zantetsuken is the signature weapon and skill of the summon Odin, typically appearing as a curved scimitar with a blue blade or aura, sometimes resembling an Egyptian khopesh. When Odin uses Zantetsuken in the game, it often instantly defeats most enemies. However, certain enemies such as Cactuars and Tonberries, as well as bosses, are immune to Zantetsuken. Additionally, Final Fantasy VIII features 'Zantetsuken Reverse,' where Seifer is able to counter Odin's Zantetsuken. Besides Odin, Gilgamesh also uses Zantetsuken later in the game, albeit with a slightly different effect. Zantetsuken appears in various forms throughout the Final Fantasy series, generally symbolizing great power and the ability to inflict instant death, making it an iconic element of the Final Fantasy franchise.
