The Excalipoor, also known as エクスカリパー (Ekusukaripā), is a recurring sword in the Final Fantasy series, often associated with Gilgamesh. It is known for being a poor imitation of the legendary sword Excalibur. Despite resembling Excalibur in appearance, the Excalipoor always deals only 1 point of damage. This has become a running joke within the series, with Gilgamesh frequently mistaking it for the real Excalibur. Although its damage output is extremely low, the Excalipoor often has relatively high base stats in some game versions, leading to it being automatically equipped when using the optimize equipment feature. In Final Fantasy VIII, the Excalipoor is one of the four weapons Gilgamesh uses at random during battle, dealing only 1 HP damage per attack. As a running gag and a symbol of a weak weapon, the Excalipoor has appeared many times throughout the Final Fantasy series, being granted various functions and traits such as dealing massive damage when thrown in some games, or having unique uses when combined with other abilities.
