Acid

In Final Fantasy VIII, "Acid" is one of Quistis's Limit Breaks, categorized as Blue Magic. This skill deals magic damage to an enemy, with the amount of damage depending on Quistis's magic stat and the current Crisis Level. Crisis Level is a hidden value that changes based on the party's low HP, the number of downed allies, and the party's inflicted status ailments. The higher the Crisis Level, the stronger the damage and the more ailments "Acid" inflicts. Additionally, "Acid" can apply various status effects such as poison, sleep, and paralyze. Quistis learns this skill by using a "Mystery Fluid." Mystery Fluids can be obtained by defeating specific enemies like Gayla, or by refining Gayla cards using the Card Mod ability. Another variation of "Acid" is Malboro's "Dissolving Acid," which always inflicts the "Vit 0" status and deals a fractional damage.
