Mighty Guard

Mighty Guard (マイティガード) in Final Fantasy VIII is a unique buff skill that appears in various forms throughout the Final Fantasy series. In Final Fantasy VIII, it's one of Quistis' Limit Breaks, categorized as Blue Magic. This ability bestows beneficial status effects on the party, with the specific effects dependent on the current Crisis Level. The higher the Crisis Level, the more buffs are granted, including but not limited to Protect, Shell, Regen, Float, Haste, and Aura. Notably in Final Fantasy VIII, Mighty Guard is one of the few sources of the Aura status, which increases the likelihood of characters using Limit Breaks. Quistis can learn this ability by using Barrier items obtained from Behemoths, which can be acquired through the card game or found in later game areas. It's worth noting that enemies like Behemoths also use Mighty Guard, but their version provides only Protect and Shell buffs. In other Final Fantasy games, 'Mighty Guard' may appear as Blue Magic, an enemy skill, or a special ability, granting effects like Protect, Shell, Float, and sometimes Haste, Regen, among others.
