Fire

In Final Fantasy VIII, "Fire" is a basic fire-elemental attack spell. It's a lower-level spell than Fira and Firaga, and it can be used to inflict fire damage, as well as being junctioned to increase fire attack or defense. Players can obtain Fire through drawing it from enemies in battle, or by refining items and cards. The spell can be refined into higher-level fire magic through the "magic refining" system. Fire is very useful in the early game, either for boosting a character's Strength when junctioned, or for attacking enemies weak to fire. Additionally, the Guardian Force Ifrit provides access to Fire magic. In the 2013 PC re-release of Final Fantasy VIII, the Magic Booster gives players 100 Fire spells, along with other basic spells. It is worth noting that the animation of Seifer's Limit Break "Fire Cross" is similar to Fire but it is not actual fire damage. Several monsters throughout the game use Fire to attack players.
