Dispel

In Final Fantasy VIII, "Dispel" is a magic spell primarily used to remove all positive status effects from a target, except for the "Invincible" status. In battles, this spell can be used to counter enemies' buffs, thus giving the player an advantage. Aside from direct casting, "Dispel" can also be "Junctioned" to characters to boost stats, such as Spirit and Vitality, or to increase resistance to specific status ailments. In the game, "Dispel" can be acquired by drawing it from certain enemies or by refining it from specific items. "Dispel" has appeared many times in the Final Fantasy series, typically as a White Magic spell to remove positive status effects, with varying effects and methods of acquisition, but maintaining the same core function of removing buffs across different titles.
