Demi

In Final Fantasy VIII, 'Demi' or 'グラビデ' is an attack magic spell that reduces a single enemy's current HP by 1/4. This spell is particularly effective against enemies with high HP, as it deals damage proportional to the enemy's current HP, capped at 9999. Demi can be acquired by drawing it from enemies and specific points in the environments, or by refining it from items using Diablos's 'Time Mag-RF' ability. It can also be obtained from Zell's side quest under specific conditions. Casting Demi in battle increases compatibility with the Guardian Force Diablos. Additionally, Demi can be combined with other spells to give Rinoa's Limit Break 'Angel Wing' significant offensive power, dealing 1.25 times an enemy's current HP as damage, capped at 9999. It can also be used to whittle down enemies' health without killing them, making card draws in Triple Triad easier. As a spell that can boost HP, strength, and magic stats when junctioned, Demi is useful early in the game, though later outclassed by more powerful spells. While it can be reflected, it is not inherently lethal and can be beneficial in putting the player's party in the HP range for Limit Breaks.
