Bio

In Final Fantasy VIII, 'Bio' (バイオ) is a unique attack magic spell that is both Poison elemental and has a status effect. This means it can be Junctioned to either deal or resist Poison-elemental damage, or to inflict or resist the Poison status on enemies. Bio is the only Poison-elemental spell in the game, though not the only one that can inflict the Poison status. Players can acquire Bio by drawing it from enemies or refining certain items. It is particularly effective against human enemies in battles, but ineffective against Poison-based or mechanical foes. Furthermore, using Bio in battle affects compatibility with Guardian Forces; for example, it increases compatibility with Doomtrain while decreasing it with Alexander. Bio can be used as an attack, a way to boost stats via junctioning, or a means to defend against poison. Despite stronger poison magic becoming available later in the game, Bio remains useful in certain situations, especially for its unique dual properties.
