Blind

In Final Fantasy VIII, "Blind," or ブライン in Japanese, is a spell that inflicts the "Darkness" status effect, or the status itself. The Darkness status greatly reduces a character's physical attack hit rate, though magic attacks are unaffected. This status can be removed with items like Eye Drops or healing magic. Players can acquire Blind magic through "Draw" points or from specific enemies. As a magic, Blind can be junctioned to character stats, enhancing resistance to the Darkness status or applying it during attacks. Early in the game, utilizing Blind to decrease the hit rate of the boss Diablos is an effective tactic. Compared to other status magic, Blind's function is eventually superseded by Pain, which inflicts multiple statuses at once, including Darkness, Silence, and Poison, as well as being more powerful when junctioned. However, early on, it serves as a helpful support spell, particularly against enemies that rely on physical attacks.
