In Final Fantasy VIII, "Float" (レビテト in Japanese) is a common magical status and skill. As a status effect, Float causes a character to temporarily levitate in the air, making them immune to earth-based attacks and ground traps. It's also a spell that can be cast to bestow this status. In battles, the Float status allows characters to avoid damage from earth elemental attacks while also evading floor traps, making it very useful against certain enemies and in specific combat scenarios. The Float spell is usually acquired by "drawing" from enemies, or via specific items or abilities. Unlike other entries in the series, in Final Fantasy VIII, Float isn't always available to purchase in stores or from item refinement; rather it's more commonly obtained by drawing from enemies during battles. Additionally, Float spells can be "Junctioned" to characters' stats to grant a stat bonus. Despite not providing the most significant stat boost, Float is still a very useful skill, especially when encountering enemies that can cast earth-based attacks.
