The "Crusader Tonic" (Holy War), also known as "Holy War Medicine," is a rare and powerful item in Final Fantasy VIII. It grants the party temporary invincibility, making them immune to all damage for a short time. This potion is difficult to acquire, obtained through stealing or dropping from specific enemies, item refining, or card modifications. The sources of Holy War may vary slightly across game versions. For instance, it can be stolen from Seifer during the third and fourth boss fights, refined by combining 10 Holy War-trials into 1 Holy War, or obtained by modifying the Gilgamesh card into 10 Holy Wars. It is considered one of the rarest items in the game. Players can achieve the same effect using Rinoa's Invincible Moon ability. Furthermore, the Crusader Tonic appears in other Final Fantasy games, such as Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift, with potentially differing effects or acquisition methods. The powerful invincibility granted by Holy War is incredibly useful against difficult bosses or final encounters, particularly when used after HP is reduced to 1, allowing for high damage output through special abilities.
