Ultima Stone

In Final Fantasy VIII, the Ultima Stone (アルテマストーン) is a rare and valuable item primarily used for magic refinement. It can be refined into the powerful Ultima spell, which is the second-highest damage-dealing single spell in the game, surpassed only by Apocalypse. When junctioned to a character, the Ultima spell provides the highest stat boosts for all attributes except Speed and Hit, making it an extremely valuable resource. The Ultima Stone can be obtained through various methods, such as monster drops, stealing, finding it in specific locations on the map, item refining, and in Chocobo Forests. For example, Ultima Weapon and Omega Weapon have a chance to drop Ultima Stones, and they can be refined from Pulse Ammo and Dark Matter using the Guardian Force Bahamut's 'Forbid Mag-RF' ability. Furthermore, players can find them in the 'Play Forest' and 'Fence Forest' of the Chocobo Forests. One Energy Crystal can be refined into three Ultima Stones using Siren’s ‘Tool-RF’ ability. Additionally, they have a chance to be obtained from some hidden locations on the map and specific battles. Due to its rarity and widespread use, players often seek to collect as many Ultima Stones as possible in order to refine enough Ultima magic to enhance their characters' capabilities.
