Rename Card

The Rename Card (リネームカード) is a recurring item in the Final Fantasy series that typically allows players to rename a character or summon. In Final Fantasy VIII, Rename Cards are primarily used to rename Guardian Forces. These cards can be acquired through various means, such as receiving one from a Moomba or finding one in the D-District Prison. Additionally, players can obtain one by giving 'The Girl Next Door' magazine to Zone on the White SeeD ship. Besides renaming Guardian Forces, there are also other types of name changing items to rename specific characters or pets. For example, a 'Pet Nametag' can rename Angelo, and a 'Chocobo's Tag' renames Boko the Chocobo. These items offer players customization options, allowing more freedom in naming characters and summons. The acquisition and usage of Rename Cards can differ across Final Fantasy games, but in Final Fantasy VIII, they mainly serve the purpose of modifying Guardian Force names.
