Elem Guard

In Final Fantasy VIII, the "Elemental Guard" (Elem Guard, Japanese: エレメントガード) is a crucial item. Initially appearing as an item, it teaches Guardian Forces (GF) the ability "Elem-Defx4". This item can be acquired through various means, including drops from the monster Krysta, refining 5 Diamond Armors, or refining 1 Selphie card into 3 Elem Guards. The Elem Guard can also be refined into 4 Elixirs using Forbid Med-RF. By equipping this ability, characters can resist, nullify, or even absorb elemental attacks by junctioning magic to their elemental defense. The higher the level of elemental defense, the more elemental damage can be absorbed. Besides direct use as an item, Elem Guard is also an important component of equipment for some characters, like Wakka’s Elemental Armguard in Final Fantasy X. Players can obtain a significant number of Elem Guards by refining Selphie's card, enhancing their party's elemental defense capabilities.
