Pet Nametag

The "Pet Nametag" is a special item in Final Fantasy VIII that is primarily used to change the name of Rinoa's pet dog, Angelo. Despite the masculine-sounding name, Angelo is actually a female dog. Players are given the opportunity to name Angelo when they first meet Rinoa at the Forest Owls' base early in the game, and they can use the Pet Nametag to rename her at any time. Using the Pet Nametag not only changes Angelo's name but also affects the names of Rinoa's specific abilities that incorporate Angelo's name, such as "Angelo Rush," which would become "[New Name] Rush." The Pet Nametag is not available for purchase in shops; it is obtained by picking it up in specific locations or through events, such as finding it in the D-District Prison or receiving it as a reward after speaking to a journalist in Timber early in the game. The item cannot be used for item refining or weapon modification; its main purpose is for customizing Rinoa's pet.
