Combat King 001

Combat King 001 is a magazine in Final Fantasy VIII that is primarily used to unlock new Duel skills for the character Zell. The magazine itself does not directly provide any attributes or effects; instead, it enables players to use Zell's special ability, "Dolphin Blow," in battle. While these skills can technically be used by inputting the correct button combinations even without reading the magazine, they will not appear on the command list. The magazine can be found at different locations in the game, with the earliest being on the bottom floor of the Galbadia D-District Prison. Alternatively, it can also be purchased from the Esthar Book Store, but only after obtaining the Tonberry GF and learning the "Call Shop" ability. Additionally, Zell can also receive the magazine from a girl during the library girl side quest in Balamb Garden, triggered by multiple dialog sequences. Overall, Combat King 001 is an important item for unlocking Zell's new skill and is also related to an entertaining side story.
