Pet Pals Vol.5

Pet Pals Vol. 5 is a magazine in Final Fantasy VIII that allows Rinoa to learn the new special ability "Angelo Search". This magazine can be found in multiple locations throughout the game, including through purchase or by obtaining it in specific areas. After reading the magazine, Rinoa's special ability "Combine" will gain Angelo's "Angelo Search" skill. While it cannot be used for magic refinement, item refinement, or weapon modification itself, it is essential for unlocking Rinoa's special ability. The magazine can also be purchased at the Esthar Book Store for 1000 Gil. The Pet Pals series of magazines are collectible items in Final Fantasy VIII, and each magazine enables Rinoa's dog Angelo to learn new tricks, which manifest in battle as "Combine" limit breaks. To learn these tricks, players must read the magazine from their inventory, then select the trick to learn on Rinoa's status screen. A trick's progress bar fills in correspondence to the number of steps taken with Rinoa in the active party, and once the bar is full, Angelo can use that trick in battle. Therefore, Pet Pals Vol. 5 is a must-have for players looking to make the most of Rinoa's and her pet Angelo's combine abilities.
