Occult Fan I

Occult Fan I is a magazine in Final Fantasy VIII, part of a series of four issues, that primarily provides information about the hidden Guardian Force, Doomtrain. While reading these magazines is not necessary to obtain Doomtrain, they offer crucial hints to collect the required items to summon it. Occult Fan I can be found on a bookshelf in the Balamb Garden Library. The magazine tells the story of Odell Burke, who found a dead monster after hearing a loud impact while making a fence with steel pipes, hinting to players about the first item they need to collect: the 'Steel Pipe'. Additionally, Occult Fan I can be purchased at the Esthar Book Store later in the game. The Occult Fan series of magazines are a unique collectible element in Final Fantasy VIII, encouraging players to explore the game world and engage in side quests.
