Occult Fan III

Occult Fan III (オカルトファンＩＩＩ) from Final Fantasy VIII is an in-game magazine that provides players with important clues about the mysterious Guardian Force, Doomtrain. While not essential for obtaining Doomtrain, it offers key information on how to acquire it. The magazine features a picture of a legendary ring said to summon powerful Guardian Forces, hinting that players need to collect 666 specific items to summon. While it doesn't directly list the exact items, reading all the 'Occult Fan' magazines reveals that you need six Malboro Tentacles, six Steel Pipes, and six Remedy+ items. Occult Fan III can be obtained in Fisherman's Horizon by talking to a fisherman. If you don't talk to him before defeating the BGH251F2 boss, you cannot obtain it. The magazine's purpose is to help players discover hidden aspects of the game, rather than just focusing on battles.
