Item

The item system in Final Fantasy VIII is unique and significantly different from other titles in the series. There isn't a traditional equipment system; instead, items mainly serve three purposes: direct use, such as restoring HP or curing status ailments; drawing and refining magic, where players obtain spells from enemies or draw points and use items to create more or different types of magic; and as a means to enhance character abilities by junctioning magic to Guardian Forces (GFs), which significantly boosts character stats. Additionally, various material items exist for weapon upgrades and crafting special items. Magazine items are also a unique category, often containing background information or hints about game mechanics. Due to the complexity and variety of the item system in Final Fantasy VIII, players need a thorough understanding of each item to play effectively. Items can be acquired through battles, shops, quests, and exploring the game world.
