Spr Bonus

The "Spr Bonus" ability in Final Fantasy VIII is a support skill that grants a permanent boost to the Spirit stat of a character when they level up. Spirit determines a character's defense against magic damage and reduces the chance of status ailments. By equipping this ability, players gain an additional +1 Spirit point when leveling up, which helps maximize Spirit without relying heavily on Spirit junctions. Spr Bonus can be learned in two ways: through the Guardian Force (GF) Leviathan and Cactuar. Leviathan learns it for 100 AP after mastering 'Spr+40%', while Cactuar has all stat bonus abilities upon joining the party. Importantly, if a player removes Spr Bonus using Amnesia Greens, it cannot be regained. Spirit is crucial for withstanding powerful magic attacks in the late game, so equipping Spr Bonus during leveling significantly improves a character's survivability. Even though the maximum Spirit value of 255 can be reached through magic junctions, Spr Bonus remains a valuable ability to prioritize while leveling.
