Expend×3-1

In Final Fantasy VIII, 'Expendx3-1' and 'トリプル消費1' (Triple Consumption 1) are two related game mechanics dealing with magic efficiency. 'Expendx3-1' is a support ability that, when equipped, allows a character under 'Triple' status to use only one stock of magic when casting a spell, instead of the usual three. This ability can be learned through the Guardian Force (GF) Eden, or taught to other GFs using the item 'Three Stars'. 'トリプル消費1' is essentially the Japanese name for 'Expendx3-1'; they refer to the same game mechanic with identical effects. These mechanics aim to enhance magic efficiency, allowing players to use powerful spells more sustainably in battle, especially with frequent 'Triple' statuses. Notably, there's also a 'Triple' spell in the game that lets a character cast three spells in one turn. 'Expendx3-1' is designed to work with the 'Triple' spell, substantially reducing the magic cost of triple casting.
