Haggle

In Final Fantasy VIII, "Haggle" is a useful support ability that does not need to be equipped to be in effect. Once learned, it reduces shop prices by 25% and is the counterpart to the "Sell-High" ability. Players need to recruit the Guardian Force Tonberry by defeating Tonberry King in the Centra Ruins, then spend 150 AP to learn Haggle, before being able to learn Sell-High. The effect automatically applies when the player enters a shop menu, reducing the purchase price; for example, a potion that normally costs 100 gil will cost 75 gil. It's important to note that Haggle does not affect prices at junk shops, hotels, car rentals, or train tickets. While gil may be plentiful in a casual playthrough, combining Haggle and Sell-High abilities allows for faster accumulation of gil by reselling items, for instance, purchasing tents and refining them into Mega-Potions before selling them, resulting in extra profit. Also, Haggle can optimize menu grinding for stat up items.
