The Chocobo Sanctuary

The Chocobo Sanctuary is an optional, hidden location in Final Fantasy VIII. Located on the Esthar continent in the northeastern part of the world map, it can only be reached by riding a Chocobo obtained from one of the other Chocobo Forests. This area is not essential to the main story, but it is a crucial part of the Chocobo side quest. Players must first solve puzzles in six Chocobo Forests, befriend each Chocobo and find the hidden treasures to reach the sanctuary. Once reached, players will find a unique Chocobo habitat where all of the Chocobos they befriended gather. Once all Chocobos are present, they perform a special "Dance of the Chocobos," after which the player is awarded the "Chicobo Card", useful in the Triple Triad card game. Additionally, players can obtain Gysahl Greens here, and bid farewell to the Chocobo Boy, completing all the related quests. After completion, this region acts as a special site to travel to and initiate a side quest to battle a UFO.
