Timber

Timber is a city in Final Fantasy VIII, located on the Galbadia continent. It was once an independent nation, but was invaded and occupied by Galbadia 18 years prior to the game's events. Timber is known for its extensive railway system and television broadcasting studio, and is also home to the Timber Maniacs publishing company. The city's woodlands have drastically decreased since its occupation, and numerous resistance groups have emerged, though they struggle to act due to Galbadia's strong grip. The game's protagonists first visit Timber to assist the Forest Owls resistance group, where they plan to kidnap the Galbadian President, but the mission ultimately fails. Timber's architecture blends old and new, with stone-built European-style buildings and a futuristic TV station. The city also houses various shops and locales, such as hotels, pubs, and souvenir shops, along with a hidden magazine office, contributing to its rich exploration content.
