Lunar Base

The Lunar Base is a key location in Final Fantasy VIII, a space station built by Esthar between Earth and the Moon to observe the moon and imprison the sorceress Adel. The base is staffed by full-time crews on rotation, and the president of Esthar sometimes visits. The player characters, led by Squall, visit the base in search of Ellone and to find a cure for the comatose Rinoa. The base contains areas such as the control room, medical bay, and docking bay. In the story, Rinoa is possessed by Ultimecia, who releases Adel from her seal, which leads to the destruction of the base by monsters falling from the moon. Hidden draw points can be found within the base to obtain spells like Meteor and Meltdown. The base is also a location to play Triple Triad, where the player can obtain the rare Alexander and Laguna cards.
