Timber - Yaulny Canyon

Timber in Final Fantasy VIII is a city under martial law by the Galbadian Army, featuring numerous resistance groups. It is known for its many train lines and its television broadcasting studio, and is also home to Timber Maniacs, a publishing company. The name Timber is derived from the surrounding woods. The city has a blend of old and new, with stone-made houses and stores contrasting with the more futuristic TV station. In the game, SeeD members are sent to Timber to assist the resistance group, the Forest Owls. They become involved in events including an attempt to kidnap the Galbadian president. Players explore Timber and its surrounding areas like Yaulny Canyon. The Yaulny Canyon is a forest area with various enemies, and is a common place for players to encounter Grendels, enemies that drop Dragon Fangs needed to upgrade the protagonist's weapons. In Yaulny Canyon, players also experience Laguna's dream sequences, further advancing the story.
