In Final Fantasy VIII, Timber is a city located in the southern part of the Galbadian continent. It was once an independent country but is now under martial law by the Galbadian army. Within the city, numerous resistance groups struggle for independence, and notable features include its extensive train lines and television broadcasting studio. It is also the home of Timber Maniacs, a publishing company. The city’s architecture blends old and new, with stone-made traditional houses and futuristic TV towers. A forest near Timber includes paths that connect to the town. Obel Lake, situated north of Timber, is a horseshoe-shaped lake and the location of a significant side quest. Here, players interact with a black shadow and follow its clues to find hidden items around the world. Completing this quest yields rare items like the “Luck-J Scroll” and the “Three Stars.” Both locations play a role in the game's story and side content, offering a rich gaming experience.
