Galbadia - Dingo desert

Galbadia is a major political and military power in Final Fantasy VIII, ruled by the dictator President Vinzer Deling. It is located on the Galbadia continent in the western part of the game world, constantly expanding its territory and attempting invasions of neighboring countries, although most are deterred by the SeeD organization. Deling City serves as its capital. Galbadia has a long history, originating from the split of Dollet after the destruction of Centra civilization. It transformed into a totalitarian state during the war against the technologically advanced Esthar. Deling maintains power through fear and the oppression of dissenters, using communication towers to proclaim an alliance with Sorceress Edea. However, Deling is eventually assassinated by Edea, throwing Galbadia into chaos. Following this, Galbadia experiences turbulent times under the rule of Sorceress Edea and control by the future sorceress Ultimecia, ultimately led by Seifer. The Dingo Desert is an area in the Galbadia continent, near the D-District Prison, and is one of the locations players explore.
