Winhill is a tranquil village in Final Fantasy VIII, located in the southwest of the Galbadian continent, near the town of Timber. This picturesque village is known for its quaint old English architecture and the floral theme prevalent throughout. Winhill is relatively isolated, accessible only by sea or air, and is separated from the rest of the continent by mountains. Rich in history, Winhill has been home to peaceful people, but it has also experienced tumultuous times due to war and invasions. In the game, Winhill serves as the home to key characters, including Ellone and Raine, as well as the birthplace of one of the main characters, Squall. Players can explore various areas of Winhill, such as Ellone's house, the flower shop, Raine's pub, and Winhill Mansion. Around Winhill, in the Winhill Bluffs, players might also encounter a UFO abducting a cow, an element of the game's side quests.
