Centra - Lenown Plains

In Final Fantasy VIII, Centra (セントラ) was a once-flourishing civilization that was destroyed by the Lunar Cry. Located on the southern part of the world map, Centra was annihilated by the 'Lunar Cry' roughly 80 years before the game's events, leaving behind a large crater now known as the Centra continent. Centra was once a civilization with advanced technology and culture, and its architecture resembled that of ancient Rome. Only a few remnants of the civilization remain, the most notable being the Centra Ruins and Edea's House. The people of Centra built mobile cities, such as Balamb Garden, Galbadia Garden, and Trabia Garden, which survived the downfall of Centra. The destruction of Centra is a key part of the story's background, and its ruins and history are often referenced throughout the game. Lenown Plains (レナーン平原), a region on the Centra continent, is less described in details, but is generally regarded as the area where the Centra Ruins are located. Players must explore this area to progress through the game and uncover the mysteries of the Centra civilization. Centra serves as an important backdrop to the game's narrative and is revisited throughout the game.
