Esthar - Minde Island

In Final Fantasy VIII, Esthar is a technologically advanced nation whose capital, Esthar City, spans the entire eastern continent. This nation is renowned for its advanced technology and the Optical Camouflage System (OCS), which hides its city from the world's view. Esthar is governed by a president and has a history marked by the Sorceress War, after which it closed its borders to the outside world. In the game, the protagonists visit Esthar in search of Ellone and to confront the threat posed by the sorceress Ultimecia from the future. Minde Island, located in southern Esthar, is connected to a puzzle involving Obel Lake, and players can find the 'Luck-J Scroll' there. Skalamanga Island is the Japanese name for Minde Island, referring to the same location.
