Esthar - Nortes Mountains

Esthar is a major political power in Final Fantasy VIII and the name of its capital, Esthar City. Located on the large continent east of Galbadia, Esthar is Galbadia's major political rival, with its territory spanning the entire eastern continent. Esthar is a technologically advanced nation governed by a president. Since the Sorceress War, the city has been hidden using an Optical Camouflage System (OCS). Esthar was founded by people who immigrated to a continent east of Centra around the same time as the Dollet Empire. The mild climate and temperament of its people soon led to scientific advancement. Esthar initiated the Sorceress War, fighting against the world under Adel's rule. Their sorceress and scientific powers posed a global threat. After abruptly ending the war, Esthar closed its borders and has remained silent ever since. In the game, the protagonists travel to Esthar multiple times for various reasons, gradually uncovering the secrets behind this technological powerhouse, including its entanglement with sorceresses and its impact on the world.
