Esthar - Millefeuille Archipelago

Esthar is a major political power in Final Fantasy VIII, and also the name of its capital, Esthar City. It is located on the large continent east of Galbadia, serving as Galbadia's main political rival, with its territory spanning the entire eastern continent. Esthar is technologically advanced and governed by a president. Since the Sorceress War, Esthar City has been hidden using an Optical Camouflage System (OCS). Founded by people who immigrated to the east of Centra, Esthar quickly developed advanced technology. During Sorceress Adel's reign, Esthar initiated the Sorceress War, posing a threat to the world. After abruptly ending the war, Esthar closed its borders and remained silent. Esthar's military surpasses Galbadia's, with soldiers enhanced by special armor and wielding swords with built-in shotguns. They are also developing mechanized soldiers to eventually replace human troops. Esthar is associated with the color blue and the main city is of this hue. Early concepts planned for Esthar to be emerald green and "channel the essence of The Wizard of Oz." The name Esthar may reference the Ishtar Gate, the eighth gate to Babylon, or the biblical Queen Esther.
