Bite Bug

The Bite Bug (バイトバグ) is a common enemy in Final Fantasy VIII. They are small, blue, flying insects that often appear in groups of one to three. Players frequently encounter them in the Balamb area early in the game. Bite Bugs attack using 'Needle', which can inflict poison, and 'Fart', which can cause darkness and berserk status effects. They are generally not a major threat in battle and can be easily defeated with physical attacks. Additionally, Bite Bugs are a source of magic in the early game, with players able to draw spells like Scan and Fire from them. In the Triple Triad card game, the Bite Bug card is a basic Level 1 Monster Card that can be modified into an M-Stone Piece using Quezacotl's Card Mod ability. Apart from Final Fantasy VIII, Bite Bugs have also appeared in other games in the Final Fantasy series, typically as weak enemies with slight variations in their attacks and drops.
