Caterchipillar

Caterchipillar (ケダチク), also known as Kedachiku, is a recurring enemy in Final Fantasy VIII and the series as a whole. It is commonly found on the world map, particularly around Balamb Garden. The Caterchipillar is an insect-like creature with a segmented body, a red head located below its “stinger,” and what appears to be a mouth on its tail. It primarily attacks using moves like Tail Bash, Head Bash, Sticky Web, and the Blue Magic spell Ultra Waves. While not particularly strong, its Sticky Web ability can be troublesome, causing Slow for levels 20-29 and Stop for level 30+. Caterchipillar is also a Triple Triad card, a basic Level 1 monster card that can be transformed into a Spider Web using Quezacotl's Card Mod ability. This Spider Web can be used to learn the Blue Magic “Ultra Waves” or refined into Slow spells. Additionally, the Spider Web dropped by Caterchipillar can teach Quistis the Blue Magic “Ultra Waves”. In the game, players can encounter it outside Balamb Garden and within the Garden during the Balamb Garden Revolt.
