Catoblepas(Boss)

Catoblepas is an optional boss in Final Fantasy VIII, found in Ultimecia Castle's Treasure Room. To access the Treasure Room, players need to find an (invisible) key near the fountain after closing the Floodgate. This boss fight is required to unlock one of the party's sealed abilities. Catoblepas is a large, hulking behemoth with an affinity for Thunder attacks. Its 'Deadly Horn' attack can inflict approximately 7000 damage. However, it has relatively low defense, which can be further reduced using 'Meltdown' or 'Doomtrain'. As a final attack, Catoblepas casts 'Meteor,' which deals about 2000 damage to all party members. Players can resist its Thunder attacks by using elemental defense junctions and inflict extra damage with Water or Earth elemental attacks. If Alexander was not obtained during the second battle with Edea, it can be drawn from Catoblepas in this fight. Catoblepas is also a Triple Triad card, which can be converted into a Rename Card.
