Elnoyle

Elnoyle is an enemy in Final Fantasy VIII. It resembles the boss Elvoret but has a dull brown coloration. It is known for dropping Energy Crystals, which are needed to create various ultimate weapons. In the late game, after Esthar City is flooded with monsters, a black figure sits north of Odine's lab and will laugh "Heehahaheehee" when spoken to, initiating a battle. Elnoyles also appear randomly on the roads in Esthar City and in the chapel of Ultimecia Castle. In battle, Elnoyles attack with their claws, counter physical attacks, and use the "Storm Breath" attack on the entire party every six turns. They can dispel status enhancements, debuff with "Pain," or kill outright with "Death." Elnoyles are weak to Death. Players can use the "Death" magic or "Degenerator" Limit Break to defeat them quickly. Additionally, using "Pain" can inflict poison, blind, or silence status, weakening their attacks. Elnoyle's card is available in the "Triple Triad" minigame and can be converted into an Energy Crystal with "Card Mod." Ten Elnoyle cards create one Energy Crystal.
