Funguar

Funguar, known as フンゴオンゴ in Japanese, is a recurring enemy in Final Fantasy VIII. It is an ambulatory mushroom creature capable of inflicting several status ailments. In Final Fantasy VIII, its signature move, 'Laser,' will only target female party members, and it never uses another move against them. Additionally, it is capable of inflicting sleep, confuse, and poison. In battle, the Funguar will cast these status ailments at random. Furthermore, Funguar has a unique characteristic: if the player uses Confuse on it first, it will use Confuse as a counterattack. It can also use the 'Demi' skill, which cuts 25% of the target's current HP based on its level, and 'Bio' which can inflict Poison. In Final Fantasy VIII, Funguar also appears as a Triple Triad card, a Level 1 Monster Card in the starter deck. This card can be refined into an M-Stone Piece, which can be used to craft weapons and refine elemental magic. While the card may become relatively unimportant in the late game, it offers some strategic value early on. Moreover, Funguar has made appearances in other titles of the Final Fantasy series, but its abilities and appearance may vary in different installments.
