Griever(Boss)

Griever is a significant concept in Final Fantasy VIII, serving both as a symbol and a powerful boss. As a symbol, Griever is a lion's head crest, commonly associated with the protagonist Squall Leonhart, who admires lions for their strength and pride. Squall wears a necklace with a Griever pendant and a ring featuring a profile of Griever's head. Griever's image is also featured on Squall's gunblades, including the "Revolver" and "Lion Heart" models, incorporating Griever's design elements. In the game, Griever also appears as a Guardian Force summoned by the final boss, Ultimecia. In battle, Griever can unleash the powerful "Shockwave Pulsar" attack and drain the party's magic. Griever's appearance reflects Squall's understanding of the ultimate power. Its name is derived from what the player names the lion on Squall’s ring, highlighting the close link between Griever and Squall. After Griever is defeated, Ultimecia merges with it to create a hybrid form, appearing as a formidable enemy in the final battle.
